Editor's Review

My kid loves dinosaurs. My kid loves cars. So when I found an app that combines both into a single game, I knew we had to try it. Dinosaur Car - Games for kids from Yateland is exactly what it sounds like: you pick a dinosaur, strap it into a car, and race.

Building the silliest car you can imagine

The first thing you do is customize your ride. There are dozens of dinosaur drivers to choose from — T-Rex, triceratops, even a pterodactyl that looks ridiculous behind the wheel. Then you pick a car body, wheels, and add stickers or paint jobs. My daughter spent a solid ten minutes just making her dinosaur wear sunglasses. The customization is simple enough for a 4-year-old to figure out on their own, but there's enough variety to keep them coming back.

Once you're done, you race. The tracks are bright and colorful, with ramps, loops, and obstacles. Controls are tap-based, not tilt — just tap to accelerate, tap again to jump, or steer by tapping left or right. It's forgiving, so younger kids won't get frustrated. There's no time pressure, no losing, just finishing the race and unlocking the next track. The cars don't crash or explode. They just bump into things and keep going.

What's actually good about it

  • No ads. None. Not even a banner. That alone is worth mentioning.
  • No in-app purchases. You unlock everything by playing.
  • It's offline. Great for car rides or waiting rooms.

The voiceovers are cheerful and clear, though after the fiftieth "Let's race!" you might want to mute it. The music is fine — not annoying, not memorable. The graphics are polished in that Yateland way, with smooth animations and bright colors that don't hurt your eyes.

If your kid is under 8 and loves dinosaurs or cars, this is a solid choice. One tip: let them customize first. Half the fun is seeing a stegosaurus in a hot rod with flames painted on the side.
