My toddler actually asks to play this one

Look, I’ve tried a dozen “educational” games for my three-year-old. Most get ignored after thirty seconds, or worse, they’re full of loud animations and confusing menus. Games for kids 3 years old by Amaya Kids is different. My daughter found the penguin character on the main screen and started tapping before I could even explain anything. That’s a good sign.

The app mixes two things kids actually love: simple puzzles and short fairy tales. The fairy tales aren’t just stories you read — they’re interactive. You tap on objects, help characters, and the narration reads along. My kid can’t read yet, but she follows the pictures and the voice. She’s already retelling “The Three Little Pigs” in her own way. The puzzles are straightforward drag-and-drop stuff: matching shapes, sorting colors, basic counting up to five. Nothing revolutionary, but it’s solid. No ads, no pop-ups begging for money. That alone makes it worth the download.

The penguin mascot, Pengui, guides everything. He’s not annoying, which is rare. He just points at what to do next and gives a little cheer when you finish. The graphics are bright but not garish — think pastel colors and soft lines. There’s no timer, no scoring, no “you lost” screen. If my daughter gets distracted and walks away, the game just sits there. When she comes back, she picks up where she left off. For a three-year-old’s attention span, that’s crucial.

I’ll be honest: the app isn’t perfect. Some of the mini-games repeat a lot, and after a week you’ll have seen everything. But for a free download with no hidden costs, it’s more than fair. The educational value is real — my kid is better at recognizing numbers and following simple instructions than she was a month ago. It’s not going to teach reading or math, but it’s a calm, friendly introduction to learning through play.

Who’d enjoy this? Parents of two- to four-year-olds who want a screen-time option that doesn’t feel like junk. One tip: turn on the “read to me” mode for the fairy tales and let your kid tap through the pages at their own speed. They’ll feel like they’re in control, and you’ll get five minutes of quiet.
