Editor's Review

My kid’s tablet is basically a rotating cast of educational apps, and most of them get deleted within a day. But Kindergarten Games for Toddler from Bibi.Pet has stuck around longer than I expected. It’s not flashy, and the graphics are simple—think bright, chunky shapes and friendly animal characters that don’t try to be Pixar. That’s actually part of the charm. The app is clearly built for the 2-to-5 crowd, with no complex menus or frustrating time limits.

What you actually do here

You get a handful of mini-games that focus on the basics: colors, shapes, matching, and simple counting. One game asks you to sort fruit by color into the right basket. Another has you drag animal shapes into their outlines. There’s also a puzzle where you match a number of objects to the correct digit. None of these are groundbreaking, but they work well on a small screen. The touch targets are big enough for tiny fingers, and the app doesn’t punish mistakes—it just waits for the right tap. That’s huge for a toddler who’s still figuring out cause and effect.

The sound design is worth mentioning. The voiceovers are clear and calm, not the hyperactive, squeaky kind that makes you want to hide the phone. Each correct action gets a gentle cheer or a happy animal noise. My kid actually repeats the words out loud, which is more than I can say for some of the louder, busier apps out there. There’s no text or reading required, so a child who doesn’t know letters yet can still play independently.

That said, the app isn’t perfect. With only about a dozen activities, it can feel repetitive after a few sessions. The 3.58-star rating on Google Play isn’t surprising—some parents mention crashes on older devices or that the free version shows ads (there’s a paid upgrade to remove them). The graphics are also a bit dated, and the animations are basic. But for a free educational tool aimed at the youngest players, it’s surprisingly solid.

If your child is just starting to recognize colors and shapes, or you need a quiet activity for a doctor’s waiting room, this app does the job without the hype. Try the free version first, and if it clicks, the ad-free upgrade is cheap enough to be worth it. Just don’t expect a deep experience—it’s a snack, not a meal, and for a 3-year-old, that’s exactly right.
